This is a six week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course delivered by Psychotherapist, Meditation & Yoga Teacher, Esther O’Neill.
Each class will be 90 minutes in duration, where we will explore practices and principles of Mindfulness that will help you to relate to your present moment experience in more skilful and helpful ways, thereby reducing feelings of stress and anxiety.
This course is based on the 8 week MBSR program first developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn in 1979. He is widely recognised as the individual who has been most influential in pioneering the practice of mindfulness in healthcare and educational settings, which led to the massive interest that we see today in mindfulness.
This short course is suited to those who are completely new to meditation, and also for those who have some experience in meditation or mindfulness.
Each week we will explore mindfulness practices and principles that will help you to develop core skills and insights that can significantly help to reduce feelings of stress, anxiety, and low mood. You will be given practices to do at home, which forms an important part of integrating mindfulness into your day to day life, and in building a sustainable daily meditation practice to draw upon following completion of the six week course.
This course also blends some of the principles of Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), which was first developed by Mark Williams, John Teasdale, and Zindel Segal in Oxford University in the early 2000’s. We will also explore compassion and how it relates to the practice of mindfulness, drawing on the work of renowned Psychotherapist Christopher Germer.
To book your place, a €50 deposit is required, with payment options available for the remaining balance.
